The moment when a dream is awakened

I got an article, and it seem very true and I want to share to everyone

I wonder you feel the same as me ; all the sudden I realized friends and relatives around me seems to get less and less.

Those years when the New Year drew near, all sorts of gathering appointments almost completely filled the diaries, but this year seems so quiet.

Even in normal time, phone calls become less and less, face to face meet up also become much less.

Perhaps, everybody is busy with their own things, or perhaps, nowadays people prefer to stay in.

However, it is not entirely like this, thinking further, actually old friends and relatives are not around any more. God bless, they are still alive and well, they just left the country, Malaysia .

They have gone to China to set factory; ah Wang quit his engineer job and migrated to Australia to set up his little food store business, ah Fong left the local University went to Hong Kong as a lecturer. 'Frog' went to Taiwan to pursue his second career life. Others went to Americia , England , even Indonesia ...

At first, I thought these are individual cases, but gradually, people around me realized the same, these are not individual cases but a general symptom of our society. they are not small numbers but the pretty big indeed.

Department of Foreign Affairs released the figures earlier, it confirmed the situation is real.

From March 2008 thru September 2009, a total of 300,000 Malaysian migrated to other countries, among them 200,000 left between Jan - Aug 2009. (in 8 months)

Cummulatively, 2 million Malaysians migrated, this figure is close to the number of Indonesian workers in Malaysia today.

The difference are, those migrated are mostly professional and middle class people.

They have many reasons to leave: pursue career development, for the future of their children, in search of better life and environment... In one sentence, they lost hope of Malaysia .

50
50 years ago people said: Malaysia is very good, better than Hong Kong and even Japan .

30
30 years ago people said: Malaysia is not bad, comparable to S. Korea and Taiwan . (No mention of Hong Kong and Japan any more).

20
20 years ago people said: Malaysia can do lah, at least better than China and Thailand (Cannot compare with Taiwan and Korea lah)

10
10 years ago people said: No matter how bad Malaysia is, cannot be worse than Vietnam and Indonesia ok-lah. ( China is already in a different category).

Today, the economic growth rate of Vietnam and Indonesia already far exceeded Malaysia , Social activity and intellectual development of the country is also better, the gap between us and them is closing up.

Why worry? there are still Philipines , Cambodia and Myanmar behind us.

However, according to an economist who recently surveyed Phillipines, he think in 20 years' time, Malaysia can replace Phillipines to become the World exporter of Malaysian maids.

Over half a century, Malaysians live in the big old imperial housing complex, closed up and survive on properties left behind by the ancestor; continued to consume up social resources, wasteful, and drove away talents; they never talk about competitiveness, totally neglected productivity, and hated meritocracy.

When Asia economic storm hit in 1997, Malaysia closed their doors, thinking we beautifully avoided a disaster, they even think of themselves as genius, being able to handle the situation so well.

However, just look at other countries in our neighbourhood ; they stood up, faced the storm, and walked out of the storm. They overhauled their system, improved the processes and marched forward ; they moved up to a new level. And Malaysia , still walking on the spot . . !

Dear Malaysia , it's time to wake up !
We are very very late now !

ABOUT EARTH HOUR

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating.

Earth Hour - Chile

In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

Earth Hour 2010 takes place on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm (local time) and is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world.

Iphone or Android

Apple iPhone

Pro: Wide distribution

While the iPhone is only available on one carrier, that hasn’t stopped it from becoming the industry’s top selling smartphone. A stunning nine million units sold in the last three months of 2009 alone, bringing its total to well over 40 million.

Con: Network woes

That one carrier, unfortunately, is AT&T, which users have been complaining about for some time now. Service in big cities like New York and San Francisco is spotty at best, making some people wonder if the phone’s cool features are worth the frustrations.

AT&T’s exclusivity window is expected to end this year, though. And many analysts have predicted Apple will expand the iPhone’s reach to another carrier as well -- perhaps Verizon, the nation’s largest cellular provider -- which would give the iPhone another big sales boost, drawing in even more game developers.

Pro: Big games and big game makers

The iPhone has already stolen some big names (such as EA’s Neil Young and Blizzard’s Keith Lee) away from the traditional gaming industry and it’s tempting several others, including legendary id Software heavyweight John Carmack.

In addition to creating several new franchises, like Flight Control and MyTown (which never would have found an audience with traditional gaming systems), the iPhone also has ports of several major console games, like Call of Duty and Rock Band. The current top-grossing app GTA: Chinatown Wars from console game maker Rockstar. This phone has serious momentum.

Google Android

Pro: Wider availability

Android devices are spread out among several networks, and some of them are finding an audience. While the Nexus One phone from Google has been a flop so far (selling less than 21,000 units in its first week), the Motorola Droid has sold much better. (The company and Verizon, which carries the model, won’t reveal exact figures.) There are also several non-phone devices that use Android, such as the Archos tablet, some smaller netbooks and upcoming eReaders. And all of those can run Android games.

"Unlike the iPhone, there are lots of telecom manufacturers who can use the Android system,"says Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital Markets. "I think, in terms of numbers, you should expect a pretty big increase in penetration."

Con: No must-have games

While there are plenty of games out there for the Android, none has managed to break away from the pack. Bonsai Blast and Parallel Kingdom might be fun, but they're not generating much excitement. Without a real smash game or two, Android will be stuck playing second fiddle to the iPhone.

Con: Buzz is slow to build

The commercials for Droid raised a few eyebrows in the general public, but their lasting impact is questionable. Do a random sample of smartphone shoppers and the number of people familiar with the Android OS will be fairly small, particularly compared to those who know all about the iPhone.

Ultimately, though, Android-based phones are expected to be viable competitors to the iPhone -- and as the sales numbers grow, look for iPhone game developers to begin porting titles over and creating original ones for the platform.

That shift could happen sooner than you think. Developers learned one important lesson with the iPhone: Establishing an early foothold can be quite beneficial to the bottom line.

PS3 Slim is coming soon

Sony had launch it PS3(the bulky like toaster machine) for some time. Right now the slimmer version of PS3 is coming on September.

It is stated that this PS3 slim will retail at USD299.99. It is like MYR1100.00. But somehow, it make me feel that when it is launch here it will cost MYR2400.00. Even though, after added tax or other changes it will be like MYR1600.00 but in Malaysia, we never know how they charge. That is what the amazing part of Malaysia.
Amazing Malaysia, Truly Asia. hahah :p

Sometime, when I think about in Malaysia a normal salary man in US earn
USD 3000 - buy a gadget for eg. PS3 USD 299.99

For Malaysia
MYR3000 - buy a PS3 MYR1200 (direct conversion)

Still doesn't make any sense. What's wrong with the market value here.

Perseid Meteor

This morning when I am working and I enter to Google page, I saw

I just wonder what is that, so I just click on it and try to learn more information on it.

What are the Perseids and what is a meteor?

Every year in August, the Earth passes through rock and dust fragments left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle, last time it came near the Sun. As these small particles collide with the Earth’s atmosphere, they burn-up, often creating a startling streak of light across the sky.

When can you see them?

Heard that is today 12nd August. But can we see it here in Malaysia?
In particular for European observers, the hours of darkness either side the peak hours, may well prove more fruitful! So try the previous Tuesday night, as well as the night of Wednesday 12th.
